Professor Alladi Venkatesh’s talk drew a large and enthusiastic audience at Aalto BIZ

Nando Malmelin Joins the Media Managment Group of the Department of Communication

08.01.2013 Dr. Nando Malmelin, former Development Director of A-lehdet Oy, joins the Media Management Group of the Department of Communication. Malmelin will work as the principal investigator in a two-year project on "Creative Leadership in Media Management" funded by the Helsingin Sanomat Foundation.

Dr. Rita Järventie-Thesleff Appointed Professor of Practice

19.12.2012 The dean of Aalto University School of Business has appointed Rita Järventie-Thesleff, D.Sc. (Econ.) as Professor of Practice for the period of 1.1.2013-31.12.2015. The professorship is at the Department of Communications.

Professor A. Fuat Firat joins the Department of Communication as Distinguished Visiting Professor

15.08.2012 Professor A. Fuat Firat will join the Department of Communication as Distinguished Visiting Professor, starting September 1 2012. Professor Firat is one of the founding fathers of postmodern and critical marketing and consumer research and he continues to be one of the most cited scholars in the broader field of marketing and consumer research.

UNESCO Joint Policy Forum on Mainstreaming Open Educational Practices (OEP) forum

23.11.2011 Alona Senishch, who works at the Aalto ECON Department of Communication, participated in UNESCO Joint Policy Forum on Mainstreaming Open Educational Practices (OEP) in the context of higher education, which was held Nov. 14 2011 in Paris. The forum brought together educational professionals, organizational leaders and policy makers from around the world to examine the results of Open Educational Quality Initiative (OPAL) and Content Creation Excellence through Dialogue in Education (CONCEDE) projects that promote innovation and quality in higher education OEPs.

Joint seminar on communicating CSR

The event was organized at the Department of Communication by Viestintäekonomit (the association of business graduates who work in communications) and the student society for communication students Viesti.

Seminar on Women on Corporate Boards

11.10.2011 Aalto ECON Department of Communication hosted a seminar on Women on Corporate Boards at the Aalto University School of Economics on October 6, 2011. The seminar was organized by Rita Järventie-Thesleff in collaboration with the association Board Professionals Finland. The aim of the seminar was to provoke discussion and debate on the small numbers of women on corporate boards. The event was the first in the series of seminars and workshops that will be organized by the "Women on Corporate Boards" research group of the department.

Communications increasingly involved in corporate strategy work
