Collaboration with Aleksanteri Institute: Russian-Western Interaction
10.02.2012
In collaboration with the Aleksanteri Institute, the International Business Communication (IBC) Master’s Program arranged an intensive course on Modern Contexts of Cross-Cultural Communication: Russian- Western Interaction. Professor Mira Bergelson from the Department of Foreign Languages and Regional Studies, Moscow State University, ran the course together with Dr Katja Koikkalainen from the Aleksanteri Institute. The course was partly financed by the Finnish Master’s School in Russian and East European Studies (VIE).
The students taking the course came from the two communication programs in Aalto ECON (IBC and Talouselämän viestintä) and from the VIE Master’s School. The students were happy with the course and appreciated the new knowledge and skills they gained about Russia and Russian culture including aspects related to communication, language, history, and the present-day media scene.
To conclude with an interesting detail about Prof. Bergelson’s expertise: Because of her extensive knowledge about intercultural communication and linguistics, since 2004 she has been responsible for ‘culturally editing’ the Russian Federation Presidential website http://eng.kremlin.ru.
